Sure ... what's one more "distraction" ... ?

Over the past several months, so many events, opportunities, and other sundry occurrences have cropped up, while my blog sits idly by, impatiently drumming its fingernails in my computer monitor.

This would not be so for Nik (Nikolas) Wallenda, an American acrobat, aerialist, daredevil, high wire artist, and author, who has said, "I've trained all my life not to be distracted by distractions."

Well, my life has a habit of taking numerous, often simultaneous turns along the way.  Thus, I count my blessings that I did not follow Mr. Wallenda's career path ... nor that of a bomb diffuser.

Immunity to distractions and nerves of steel do not reside in my talent tool box, and I am so easily beguiled by "aberrations," yet so much of what has transpired could neither be avoided nor ignored.

One of these involved an invitation to attend a wedding, in Hawaii, which I happily accepted.  Plans were made and paid for, (at a substantial discount, I might add) ... and then, I lost a close friend.

Between the sweetest of memories and my salty tears, I sent my most earnest condolences, and my reluctant apologies that I would be far, far away during her services ... and then, my husband got hurt.

My beloved's injury is no mere distraction for either of us.   I do what I can for him while he struggles with the pain of his now shattered shoulder, awaiting surgery, amid multiple visits with his doctor.

These are but the highlights, the more intense of my "distractions" of late.  For now, I am wending my way through this overlapping labyrinth of tough "situations" ... and finding that flexibility is key.

Meanwhile, the nearly constant drumming from within my computer monitor has bid me to, at the very least, explain my most recent absence.  And, so I have.  Well, I am no Nik Wallenda.
