Slack out is a culinary term for thawing a frozen product at room temperature, and it feels very much like a thawing out as I approach this blog after so long, while also recovering from a hefty head cold.
My poor brain is in slow-response mode, as happens during a cold, and is well befogged by needful medications. It is, perhaps, ludicrous of me to even attempt to answer the call of my blog at this time.
So, I will acquiesce and share a little poem with you, instead:
When Sunlight Fails
When everywhere seem clouded gloom,
When disappointments press,
A famine of the heart presumes
That every joy is less
No matter gentle pleasantries
Nor comforting caress
Nor any offered remedy
To someone so depressed
Yet, ample joys there’ll always be
To tug the sunken chest
Until what seemed sheer misery
Proves but a little test.
